Day 7: And God saw that it was good
One week complete. Feels good. Or something. Well, there it is. My life for the next year. One suitcase, one backpack. Stuffed, packed and ready to go. This is terrifying...

pho365: end of week 1!
so yesterday was imminent doom in the city and today was a beautiful day straight out of some magical new york fairytale. so at 10:30 am when the prospects of my day included lying in bed and then perhaps rolling over to a new couch potato position every 10-15 minutes, i said to my self.... "hey self. look at that sun shining through your window. look at it! you better go get you some tan!" (seriously, that entire conversation happened in my head. oh, and use sunscreen.)
so i put on my best summer dress, hopped onto the bus and made my way down to the park. in the end, it was a beautiful day in CP full of babies and bugs, whole foods picnics and random people selling water and beer from their bikes.
i like this picture because it looks like those trees are holding hands, and trees with emotions reminds me of lord of the rings and who doesn't love LOTR?! seriously. everyone loves Frodo. get with the program.
hoorah to week 1!!
Day 6 is here, and it's here to stay.

Palo Alto has this crazy Eiffel Tower-looking thing on El Camino near the border of Los Altos and I've never really stopped to consider it. I have no clue what it is but at night they light the top and it can be seen for several blocks. I drove by tonight and got out of my car to take this just because... I never stopped to consider it. I like it. (PS. This post is after Day 6 has ended but the photo was legitimately taken on Day 6. AH was teleconferenced in and can vouch.)

hello, hanna
at least thats how i interpret it. here's a view of Hannah from my window.
ps. is it already day 6??!
Day 5: Hill no!
This beaut comes from my original "THE city", San Francisco. I did, indeed, leave my heart in San Francisco and I go up to spend time there as much as I can when I'm back in CA. It's one of my most favorite places in the world since I can enjoy visiting the fast-paced metropolitan feeling without having to live there. Plus there's nature (New Yorkers: I'll explain what that means another time). I was in the city today and some time just to wander and drive the hills a bit. I like how this came out because you can see the hills in the distance and the tree silhouette came out well. Plus I think the sun flare is kinda cool. I'm getting nostalgic about a lot of places these days since I feel like I'm always saying goodbye. This one's for leaving SF.

here, kitty kitty
actually i had 2 sangria's tonight and i'm not sure this cat gives a fuck who i am. BUT I LOVE HIM STILL.
first is a shot of a couple walking home this evening, and the second is of my desk at work scattered with poster options for an upcoming event.

i want this (day 4 pic)
that being said, i think we're getting there. or at least some kind of progress is being achieved. and.... you just fell asleep.
i want to own this scooter. i especially love that the front visor is about 16 inches high. normal, you ask? certainly not. cool looking? oh yes.
also. this is new york. where are the locks?? i could've stolen this.... but i didn't cause i was tired.
Day 3, Jew-style
Here's the dillyo: I was outside my apartment trying to figure out what interesting, artistic picture to take in the few minutes I had left before it was... Day 4. Suddenly, this man came around the corner muttering about how I "scared the shit out of him". He meant the flash going off at 11pm and I apologized for disturbing him. He laughed it off and said it was no problem. Just as I began to wonder where he had come from (his front door was behind me and around the corner is nothing but lawn and the side of his apartment), the smell set in: pure, intense, weapons-grade Pot. As he chuckled uncontrolably to himself and shuffled into his apartment I noticed the joint behind his ear (for later?) and snapped this picture through the steps. Let the sunshine in!

rockin' pho365 on day 3!
listen up..... this is a non-political blog. but i feel the need to share that Giullani is talkin at the RNC and all i'm hearing is a lot of "wahh wah wah. wah wah wah wah". here's the deal. the choice of sarah palin is offensive to me. that choice says old man mccain just thought, 'i'll pick any republican woman i can find and all those hillary supporters will FLOCK to me.' wrong. i'm more concerned with retaining my right to choose than a woman getting to the oval office this very year.
just had to get that off my chest.
now to more important pho365 things. new york can be beautiful. i'm lucky enough to get a few minutes of beauty on my walk to work and then home at night along CPW. I like to take pictures like this, with sun shining through some inanimate object. is a tree inanimate? technically no, right? idk. this RNC wahwah-ness is messing with my mind! oh wolfy, bring them back from the dark side.

Day 2
Aislinn (my cohort) doesn't want me to write about my photos when I post them. SUCK ON THIS. This is the view of my backyard from my dad's house in San Jose. The question I get most often when I talk about moving to New York from California is "dear god, why?". This photos answers that question with a resounding "I don't know."
sept. 2 photo pick from the hawaiian
i'm not sure why i decided to refer to myself as a person from my former (ugh.) state, but i did and now you're over it and i'm over and we're all over it together. deep breath.
this strange donald trump looking man was smoking some cigar at 9am this morning on Grand St. and Mercer. It was an odd mix of things and I was confused and fascinated. My mind created this story that he was some rich millionare, who was from saudi arabia and had made millions in oil, or something, and was here to find some long lost daughter (named Chartesephone probably) who lived in soho and didn't know about her family but was sent a random check every month from like a trillion dollars and therefore could afford to live in soho.
It's important I mention I had not had coffee at this point.
i'm rambling.
here is mr. trumps doppleganger (look it up) and oil millionare.
Day 1, back from being MIA

apologies to my cohort . (cohort? we'll work on it...) is that a new camera i see down below?? (ARE YOU SAD?!)
so its day 1 and i'm already late posting. way to kick off a great 365 blog! but i did take this image on the official kick-off day of pho365, i swear!
this is a woozy image brought to you courtesy of amtrak's regional 167 train from boston to who the hell knows where. (that train goes all the way to freaking guam for all i know.) photo was taken from my phone so i apologize for the poor color quality, but the blur is on purpose..... i hope you figured that out. anyway, this picture is appropriate mostly because its how i feel whenever i take this train that is literally so full there are people sitting on the floors. madness.
highlights of this amtrak trip included - random 50ish woman getting arrested (and being pregnant while being arrested, making the whole thing even more odd), crazy chatty behind me talking to no one but herself and saying over and over "i didn't know where to charge my blackberry. I didnt know. I wasn't sure where to charge it, my blackberry, and i just didn't know. did you know because i didn't know!??!" for about.... 3 hours, and finally the block island team of 4 20-somethings all tanned and beach worn looking, talking loudly about how much they drank and how great of a time they had on block island and me, through my hatred of their happiness, wishing i had gone to block island.

Day 1
Welcome to Phototally. My cohort (what a weird word...) is absent and won't return my calls or emails or texts or Facebook messages or smoke signals so I guess I'll kick this off and she'll post at some point. I'm not sure you want to sign on for this. I'm not even sure I want to sign for this. It's a commitment and that makes me anxious. But that's what I get for signing on the line before reading the fine print. So for the next year I will take and post a picture every day. In honor of this, my first ever Pho365, I took this shot:

I like it because it's self-referential and you're not quite sure how the room is set up. I'm not usually a fan of photos of people taking photos or self- protraits but I think this one is kind of neat. More interesting, less-wordy posts to come. Enjoy the next year with us!
