Day 339 broke a leg!

Let me explain to you all the dedication that I possess to this project. Subconsciously, no less. Last night was opening night here in Seattle (!!!). The pre-show arrivals were star-studded, the show went well, sales were high, the party was kickin'. Free booze? Yes, thank you. As I stumbled home past the theatre, I thought to myself (through my drunken haze) "I need to take a picture". So I pulled out my camera, looked up at the marquis and took this (artsy?) photo. That's right, suckers, I did my duty even while inebriated. Posting? Not so important. But I came through for you all. Don't ever say I don't love you enough to keep on the right track.

Ps. Happy Opening!

Day 338 stops traffic

There's an alley behind the theatre that runs between two major streets and while I suppose it's technically possible to drive through I've never seen anyone do it. Which renders this sign moot. But a sign that reads "Performance Today: Alley Closed" is pretty nifty. It was a big night at the show and tomorrow will be even bigger. So don't park here!

day 338: the simple things

i don't think this needs very many words. i think it's really beautiful. is that strange? i'm still sitting with this. i just can't explain why i love it so much. and i really really love it.

over and out.

day 337: monkey see

the other boroughs are a strange land. for instance, this oversized monkey in a bikini, sunglasses, sipping out of a coconut with a straw wearing her fabulous (faux) pearls exists in the borough of Queens... basically she's just gettin down with her bad monkey self, chillin with the air conditioners not carin who's watching or judging. she's all, "yeah bitches.... i'm gonna sip my coconut drink (with alcohol in it, no doubt) while all you fools walk by WISHING you were as awesome as i am. i love her. i want to be her. except for the fake monkey part. also, pink string bikini's are so last year.

day 336: chinatown is so bizarre

looky what i found! this is right outside the starbucks near my office it's sooooooo chinatown. (i know i've said that a few times in these past 335 days), but this really is! large chinese lion statue with graffiti in the background over what will very shortly open up to be a stand selling counterfeit bags/jewelry/watches/scarves/baby turtles.... then sitting between the lions legs.... an empty beer can!! pure comedy!

anyway, i like it.

Day 337 goes bump in the night

Sitting on the stoop tonight finishing my phone conversation I realized how creepy the building across the street looked behind the tree. I snapped this picture (totally not paying attention to the blabbering on the other end of the call) and it looks even more so in the picture. Totally looks like a horror movie. Scary!

Day 336 is a street artist

Come on, this is hilarious! I love when people have an obvious sense of humor about destroying public property, don't you? My favorite part is the briefcase. Too funny!

Day 335 is a packrat

So, this car happened. Um, I'm not sure what there is to say about it. It's called the "Accessories Odyssey" and it's covered in... accessories. Shoes, purses, shoes, jewelry, shoes... more shoes... There's an envelope on the back explaining that it's a work in progress and asking for donations since "it's not cheap to keep this puppy filled!". I'm sorry, when did it become my issue to keep your crazy car filled with crap? Some things I'll just never understand.

day 335: central park beauty

walked upon this wall "art" at central park. I'm quite in love with it. It reminds me of something from another world, another time in new york. almost doesn't seem to belong with taxi's and traffic lights all around. fascinating...

day 334: sailor's haven

despite the rainy weather, saturday's forecast was to be sunny and beautiful. MR and i decided to take our chances and go on a beach adventure. Or shall I say, adventure to find the beach. and found it we did! it was a truly beautiful day and there were ample photo opportunities. here's one of my faves!

day 333: pretty colors in the rain

remember this day? Well, that installation is now far, far away and someone has taken to graffit-ing this shop, whatever it is. Which is both sad and weird. But the question still remains.... where did the odd transparent, colorful people with linked hands go?

Day 334 is couch-surfing

This is a couch.
It used to be in the hallway on KCanny's floor.
It was there for several weeks.
The other day it disappeared.
We couldn't figure out where it went.
This is the front gate.
The stairway lets out at the front gate.
The couch is at the bottom of the stairs.

You do the math.

Day 333 likes film noir

Saw this stairway walking home tonight. Caught my eye, I snapped this. I think it came out pretty nifty. Reminds me of another era. Or something. It's too hot to think...

Day 332 is anything but conventional

This is the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. The building is actually only on one side of the street but there's this amazing dome on top that connects the buildings across the street. You can imagine how thrilled I was when I first came upon it. It's right my alley!
